Senior Strategic Buyer – Mechanical Components (m/f/d)

About the role

We are looking for a Project Buyer to manage procurement activities for robotics and automation projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing components and materials while ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery. This role requires collaboration with suppliers, engineers, and project teams to support production and innovation in robotic systems

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for mechanical components, including motors, gearboxes, machined parts, injection-molded parts, castings, and related technologies, across multiple Agile Robots product series and projects
  • Manage assigned commodity categories and supplier pools, building and developing long-term supplier partnerships that deliver sustainable value
  • Define sourcing strategies based on product requirements, technology, volumes, supply-chain needs, technical capability, competitiveness, capacity, localization, risk, supplier status, and TCO
  • Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, contracts, commercial terms, and long-term business relationships; manage commercial escalations and critical supplier issues
  • Monitor and improve supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, capacity, and commercial performance, while identifying and mitigating supply-chain and supplier risks
  • Drive cost reduction and optimization through VA/VE, should-cost analysis, benchmarking, target costing, supplier negotiations, and analysis of supplier cost structures
  • Set and track cost targets and monitor market developments in material costs, manufacturing technologies, supplier capabilities, and emerging technologies to identify optimization opportunities
  • Partner with Supply Chain, R&D, Project Procurement, Factory Procurement, Quality, and Production to align sourcing with business needs and ensure visibility of future demand, product, and supply requirements
  • Represent Strategic Procurement in sourcing and supplier-selection decisions, using commercial expertise, supplier-market knowledge, benchmarking, and recommendations to influence cost and manufacturability
  • Support DFM/DFA activities by connecting Engineering with suitable suppliers and their manufacturing capabilities and expertise

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement,purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in robotics, automation, or manufacturing
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Technical knowledge of component manufacturing, automation systems, and industrial machinery is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferable (SAP)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Hands on, proactive and empathic in a growing business environment
